Society for the Rational Study of Religion(SRSR)
Welcome to SRSR where you're invited to check your coat at the door, not your brain. I'm not trying to be a wise guy, just suggesting that people do some serious thinking when it comes to the questions that have intrigued and perplexed people since the beginning of time. The "rational study of religion" isn't really an oxymoron... but it does run up against the notion that, "you can't win an emotional debate with a logical argument"... Ed Rollins. Matthew 18:3 says, “... unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”, . Does this mean we should always be like children regarding religion and faith? SRSR believes there are times to be childlike, but even in matters pertaining to God we shouldn't fear acting like adults. Faith is a wonderful thing but blind faith is something else and blind misguided faith can be the prelude to things like Jonestown Coolaid. There's nothing wrong with subjecting religious "truths" to a little scrutiny and if they're valid they'll probably withstand it just fine. SRSR was conceived with the premise that people with inquiring minds, have the right and the responsibility to approach religion and spirituality with their eyes and minds wide open!
The Indiana sky "Heres a truck stop instead of St. Peters" REM They rushed out the door to get there on time, sat in the concrete sanctuary and listened to the pastor over the PA. Outside snow capped the trees, mixed with the steam and God spoke without loud speakers.
This pew was almost empty... SRSR's promotes the distribution of information and discussion of God, spirituality and the eternal questions that religions claim to answer... where did we come from, why are we here and where are we going?
